Working Group
Green Team

Encourages Ambassadors to promote environmental awareness and support sustainability initiatives across the Company.

The Green Teams’ main functions include the following:

Identify and evaluate the significant environmental aspects of Volaris.

Define the environmental objectives and programs that enable Volaris to comply with its Integrated Policy.

Propose measures to raise awareness among internal and external stakeholders about the Integrated Policy and environmental impacts.

Members of the WG Green Team receive training to understand the impacts of processes and activities on the environment and how to manage them.

Seek the required resources for those environmental programs that contribute to reducing or improving the environment.

Monitor the progress or performance of the environmental programs.

Participate in the review of the results of environmental programs and propose actions for the improvement and implementation of those environmental programs.

Emissions Reduction

Emissions Reduction

Reducing emissions requires a combination of operational, technological, and market-based actions. Together, these initiatives support our long-term emissions reduction pathway.

Fleet Renewal

Operating one of the youngest fleets in the Americas helps improve fuel efficiency and reduce GHG emissions intensity.

High density configuration with lighter seats

Installed lightweight Recaro seats in 23 aircraft: 16% of our fleet has this type of seat.

Lightweight Seats

Lightweight cabin equipment helps reduce aircraft weight and improve efficiency.

P&W’s GTF NEO Engines

GTF NEO engines improve fuel efficiency, reduce noise, and support future SAF use.

Onboard services

Onboard products and equipment are continuously reviewed to optimize weight and operational performance.

Sharklets

Aerodynamic wingtip devices that help reduce drag and improve fuel efficiency.

Operational Optimization

Flight planning and operational practices help optimize fuel consumption across our network.

Ground Operations (APU Usage)

Ground operational practices help reduce fuel consumption while aircraft are on the ground.

Efficient Flight Planning

Fuel planning and load optimization help reduce fuel consumption on every flight.

Fleet renewal is one of the main drivers of our fuel-efficiency strategy. Over the years, we have progressively transitioned to newer, more efficient aircraft, increasing the share of Airbus A320neo Family aircraft in our fleet.

Fleet renewal - Fleet Composition

As we continue advancing these initiatives, we measure our progress against a 2015 baseline. Our goal is to reduce Scope 1 aircraft CO2 emissions intensity by 35.42% gCO2/RPK (grams of CO2 per revenue passenger kilometer) by 2030.

Emissions Reduction

Circularity and Waste Management

We are working to reduce waste, extend the life of materials, and promote circularity through initiatives that support more responsible resource management across our operations.

Onboard recycling

Onboard recycling

Our onboard recycling pilot separates high-value recyclable PET bottles and aluminum cans during flights in collaboration with airport partners.

Waste management

Waste management

Our waste management approach addresses different waste streams across our operations through prevention, reduction, recycling, and responsible disposal initiatives.

Prevention of Wildlife and Flora Trafficking Program

Volaris is committed to the preservation of ecosystems and biodiversity across its operations. This commitment includes the Prevention of Wildlife and Flora Trafficking Program, certified under our ISO 14001:2015-certified Integrated Airline Management System (IAMS). Volaris also leverages its logistics network to support the transportation of rescued wildlife for rehabilitation, relocation, and conservation, and participates in reforestation initiatives that contribute to ecosystem and biodiversity preservation in the regions where it operates. This commitment is endorsed by Executive Management.

Commitment to Preventing Deforestation

Volaris is committed to preventing deforestation in its operations, starting its implementation targeted for 2027. The Company prohibits the acquisition of products originating from areas that have been illegally deforested and seeks to avoid impacts on sites of national or global biodiversity importance. This commitment applies to Volaris' own operations and is endorsed by Executive Management.

Environmental Awareness Among Our Ambassadors

VOIconsciente is our environmental awareness program for Volaris Ambassadors, designed to strengthen a culture of environmental responsibility and integrate sustainable practices into both their daily lives and the workplace. Through practical habits and actions, we promote the responsible use of resources, such as reducing water and energy consumption, properly separating waste, reducing waste generation, and avoiding single-use plastics.

Join Our Environmental Efforts

You can be part of our environmental efforts, too. Through #cielitolimpio, our voluntary carbon offset program, customers can offset a portion of the emissions associated with their flights by supporting certified carbon projects.

Our environmental actions contribute to the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

SDG 7 — Affordable and Clean Energy

We support greater energy efficiency through fleet modernization and operational practices that reduce fuel consumption, while exploring lower-emission energy alternatives for aviation.

SDG 13 — Climate Action

We work to reduce our emissions intensity through fleet renewal, fuel-efficiency initiatives, route optimization, weight reduction, and more efficient ground operations, while strengthening the management of climate-related risks and opportunities.

SDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals

We collaborate with industry partners, authorities, and other stakeholders to advance environmental initiatives, share knowledge, and support collective action toward a more sustainable aviation sector.
